These cinnamon almonds are the perfect snack or sweet treat. They're just the right amount of sweetness thanks to maple syrup and you can make them in less than 10 minutes.
¼cuppure maple syrup(see recipe notes for substitution with white sugar)
1teaspooncinnamon
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Place a medium non-stick saucepan on the stove over medium-low heat. Add the raw almonds, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt and mix well until all the almonds are evenly coated.
Continue to stir constantly over medium-low heat while the maple syrup begins to evaporate. Be patient as it will take 8-10 minutes.
The almonds are ready when the mixture is no longer wet and the maple syrup has crystallized and stuck onto the almonds. Remove the pan from the heat and transfer the almonds to a separate bowl to cool. Allow them to cool completely before serving.
Notes
You can use granulated sugar or brown sugar instead of maple syrup if desired. To do this, first add 2 tablespoons of water to the pan with the sugar and dissolve the sugar before adding the almonds. Then, proceed with the steps outlined in the recipe directions.
This recipe is also the perfect way to make sugared nuts for a salad topping.
