These jalapeño turkey burgers are bound to be a huge hit at your next summer barbecue! They are packed with flavor and the spice can be adjusted to your preference.
In a large bowl, mix the ground turkey, minced red onion, cilantro, and jalapeño, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and lime juice until well combined. Don’t over mix or the meat can become tough. We don't want tough or dry turkey burgers!
Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions. Roll a portion into a ball and form into a patty shape. You can place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper until you are ready to cook them.
For the grill:
Spray the grill with non-stick cooking spray. Prepare the grill to cook on medium-high heat, about 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Once hot, place the patties on the grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
For the stove:
Preheat a large saucepan with olive oil cooking spray over medium heat. Once the pan is hot, place the patties in the pan. Let the burgers cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the turkey has a nice sear and reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
For the guacamole:
In a medium bowl, mash the avocados then add the red onion, cilantro, lime juice, and salt. Mix until well combined.
For assembling:
We recommend toasting the burger buns prior to assembly to prevent the bun from becoming too soggy. You can do this in a toaster, on a pan over the stove, or in the oven depending on your preference.
Place a cooked turkey burger on the bottom half of the bun. Top the patty with guacamole, pico de gallo, and a piece of crisp romaine lettuce. Place the top half of the bun on top of the burger and enjoy!

This burger can be gluten-free if served on a gluten-free bun. It is also dairy-free without the addition of cheese.
