What ingredients do you need?
Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats
For this recipe, you'll need old-fashioned rolled oats. Steel-cut oats and quick oats will not work for this recipe. We love the One Degree Organics brand that you can find at Target and Costco. If you are making this recipe gluten-free, ensure you use a certified gluten-free oat.
Raw Pecans & Raw Sliced Almonds
Raw pecans and raw sliced almonds make this granola extra delicious! You can substitute either of these nuts for an equal amount of a different type of nut. We highly recommend almonds and pecans though.
Coconut Chips or Shredded Coconut
For this recipe, we prefer to use unsweetened shredded coconut. The shredded coconut gives the granola a subtle coconut flavor and is delicious toasted with the granola.
Cocoa Powder
The cocoa powder is what gives this recipe its chocolate flavor. You could also leave it out and still have a delicious granola recipe.
Pure Maple Syrup and Coconut Sugar or Brown Sugar
A combo of pure maple syrup and either coconut sugar or brown sugar gives the granola its perfect sweetness.
Melted Coconut Oil
We prefer to use coconut oil for this recipe, however, you could swap it for melted butter, avocado oil, or a light-tasting olive oil.
Salt, Vanilla Extract & Cinnamon
Salt, vanilla extract, and cinnamon are essential in any good granola recipe.
Mini Chocolate Chips
We love adding a few mini chocolate chips to emphasize the chocolate flavor. We prefer the Enjoy Life mini chocolate chips you can find at Costco. Feel free to use milk, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate chips. Feel free to use normal-size chocolate chips but note that they won't distribute as evenly.
