Why You’ll Love This Recipe
This Blackberry Pear Prosciutto Pizza is one of our favorite pizza recipes as of late. While you may not initially think of some of these ingredients for pizza toppings, they come together to create an amazing flavor! The saltiness from the cheese and prosciutto complements the sweetness from the blackberries and pears perfectly. The next time you're looking for a new, quick and easy meal option, give this one a try!
Ingredient Notes
- Pizza crust, flatbread, or naan bread - there are several options you can choose from when it comes to the base of the pizza. You can follow your own homemade pizza dough recipe, buy pre-made pizza dough ball from the grocery store (you can find this at Trader Joe's, Kroger, and Market Basket (for our New England readers!)). You can also buy a flatbread, naan bread, or pre-made pizza crust. You can also select a gluten-free option if necessary. Note that the ingredient amounts listed in the recipe are for one large pizza. If you are using smaller crusts or flatbreads, you can divide the ingredients equally.
- Garlic, olive oil, and sea salt - rather than using a traditional tomato sauce for our pizza sauce in this recipe, we chose to make a sauce with minced garlic, olive oil, and sea salt. We love using Maldon Sea Salt Flakes here!
- Parmesan cheese and fresh mozzarella cheese - we use a combination of shredded parmesan cheese and fresh mozzarella cheese for this pizza. The parmesan adds a salty, nutty flavor while the fresh mozzarella gives a milder taste and adds to the cheesy pizza texture.
- Prosciutto - thinly sliced prosciutto torn into pieces adds the perfect salty flavor to this pizza! We like to add the prosciutto before baking in the oven so that it comes out crispy after cooking.
- Fresh blackberries and fresh pear - we like to add the fruit onto the pizza after it is cooked, but if you like baked fruit you can always add it to the pizza before baking. We recommend halving the blackberries and thinly slicing the pears.
- Fresh basil and balsamic glaze - these are the finishing touches! If you don't have balsamic glaze, you can also dip your pizza into a mixture of olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Step 1: Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle the minced garlic on top of the pizza crust or rolled out dough. Use a pastry brush or the back of a spoon to spread it evenly. Sprinkle the sea salt evenly over the pizza.
Step 2: Next, sprinkle the parmesan cheese and torn pieces of fresh mozzarella evenly over the pizza.
Step 3: Tear the prosciutto into pieces and scatter them across the pizza.
Step 4: Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and/or the crust begins to brown (please note this baking time may vary based on the type of dough or bread you use). Broil for 1-2 minutes before pulling it out of the oven.
Step 5: While the pizza is cooking, cut the blackberries in half lengthwise, slice the pear into thin slices, and chop the basil. Add them to the top of the pizza when removed from the oven. Drizzle with balsamic glaze.

Tips & Variations
- We have used pizza dough to make a larger, family-sized pizza, but have also really enjoyed using these mini naan breads to make individual pizzas for a quick lunch option. Keep in mind that the ingredient amounts listed in the recipe are for one large pizza. If you are using smaller crusts or flatbreads, you can divide the ingredients between them to make smaller pizzas.
- We love the balsamic glaze drizzle on top of this pizza, but another great option could be using a drizzle of hot honey.
- If you're not a fan of mozzarella cheese, you could try swapping it for ricotta cheese to make a blackberry ricotta pizza or use goat cheese to make a goat cheese pizza.
FAQ
We recommend storing any leftover pizza slices in an airtight container or Ziploc bag in the refrigerator.
If you want the pizza to be crispy and not soggy, there are several ways you can reheat pizza aside from the microwave. You can reheat it in the oven until the cheese is melty and the pizza is warmed through, in the air fryer, or microwave it for about 20-30 seconds and then place it on a pan on the stove to get the bottom crispy.
This recipe can be made gluten-free if using a gluten-free crust. It is not dairy-free or vegan. For a vegetarian version, simply leave off the prosciutto.
