Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- The golden brown wontons give the salad a perfect crunch.
- It's packed with fresh veggies and you can easily add other veggies you have on hand.
- The sesame dressing is simple to make.
Ingredient Notes
- Frozen mini wontons - chicken, veggie, shrimp, or beef will all work. You can find these in the freezer section at the grocery store. They are a smaller version of a potsticker and the perfect size for this salad.
- Shelled edamame - in order to save time, we purchase pre-shelled edamame from the freezer section. You can buy the edamame in pods, just note that it will be more tedious.

Recipe Tips & Variations
- To make this salad a heartier and more filling main dish, you can add a protein option like cooked shrimp, rotisserie chicken, or grilled chicken.
- Feel free to add any other desired salad toppings like mandarin oranges, mango, or sesame seeds.

Step 1: Start by cooking the mini frozen wontons according to package directions by either pan-frying or air-frying them to ensure they get a nice golden brown crunch and are heated through in the center. Allow them to rest for 5 minutes after cooking.
Step 2: While the wontons are cooking, add all of the dressing ingredients to a small jar and mix until combined.
Step 3: In a large bowl, add the edamame, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, diced green onion, bell pepper, and cilantro. Add the wontons and mix until combined.
Step 4: Add your preferred amount of dressing and toss well. We prefer to dress the individual portions of salad with dressing so the leftovers don't get soggy.
Wonton Salad FAQs
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. If you plan to save leftovers, add dressing to individual portions instead of the entire salad.
This recipe is dairy-free. Most wontons are not gluten-free, but if you find a gluten-free wonton brand, you can swap for those and use tamari instead of soy sauce. For a vegan or vegetarian option, use vegetable wontons.
