Ingredient Notes
- Bananas - you will want spotty bananas for this recipe! If they are not overripe, they will not mash well or provide enough sweetness for best results. We also love using ripe bananas in our banana zucchini bread recipe.
- Oat flour - if you're making your own oat flour in a blender or food processor, we recommend using old-fashioned oats over quick oats or steel cut oats.
- Maple syrup - we recommend using pure maple syrup for this recipe. Honey could be an option if you don't have maple syrup on hand, but note the overall flavor may slightly differ.
- Peanut butter - we love using natural creamy peanut butter, but you could use crunchy peanut butter as well.
- Protein powder - use your favorite protein powder! We have liked using the vanilla flavor of Just Ingredients protein powder and Clean Simple Eats protein powder. Truvani protein powder is a great dairy-free/vegan option.
- Chocolate chips - we like using semisweet or dark chocolate chips for this recipe. You can grab your favorite dairy-free option from the grocery store if needed!

- You can easily make a double batch of this recipe for a bigger crowd or meal prep option.
- We love the peanut butter chocolate combination but you can always swap the peanut butter for another option such as almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter.
- Feel free to add a few hemp seeds, chia seeds, or golden flaxseed meal for an added nutrition boost.
