Ingredient Notes
- Atlantic salmon - we prefer Atlantic salmon over sockeye salmon because the fishy taste is not as strong. You can use fresh or frozen salmon and wild salmon or farm-raised salmon depending on your personal preference. You can also buy salmon with or without the skin and already cut into individual servings.
- Thai sweet chili sauce - Thai chili sauce provides the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors paired with subtle heat. We like using the Mae ploy brand, but you can also try Thai Kitchen or the Panda Express brands. A lot of grocery stores carry their own version of sweet chilli sauce as well.

Tips & Variations
- You could turn the salmon into salmon bites and serve over coconut rice, brown, rice or cauliflower rice to create sweet chili salmon bowls.
- You can use alternative cooking methods as well. You can cook the salmon on the grill and spoon chili sauce marinade over the top after. You can also bake in the over and broil salmon for the last minute of cooking to add a little crispiness.
- If serving with rice, spoon leftover sauce over the top of the rice for additional flavor.
- This would be a great meal to serve alongside green beans, broccoli, or a simple side salad.
How to Make Sweet Chili Salmon
For the full recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the page.
Step 1: Begin by preparing the salsa. Dice the mango, red onion, and bell pepper. Mince the jalapeno (seed and ribs removed), and chop the cilantro. Place it all into a medium bowl.
Step 2: Add the lime juice and salt and mix until well combined.
Step 3: Next, prepare the sweet chili sauce. Add the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, and lime juice to a small bowl and mix until well combined.
Step 4: Next, prepare the salmon. Pat each filet dry with a paper towel and sprinkle each side of the filet with salt and pepper.
Add the avocado oil to a large skillet over medium heat until it is shimmering. Place the salmon into the pan (you may need to do two batches depending on the size of your pan). For best results do not move the salmon again for about 4-5 minutes, until it is golden brown and crispy. Flip the salmon to the other side and cook for another 4-5 minutes, until that side is also golden brown and crispy (and at an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.)
Step 5: Spoon the sweet chili glaze over the top of the salmon filets after the filets are removed from the pan.
Step 6: Top with mango salsa.
We also love serving this salmon with our favorite coconut rice which can be made in the instant pot or rice cooker.
