Why You’ll Love This Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie
- The smoothie has easy ingredients, is packed with protein, and tastes like a dessert.
- Our version of the popular smoothie has no added sugar and is sweetened with ripe bananas.
- It's a delicious mid-day snack, quick breakfast, or sweet treat before bed.
- The chocolate peanut butter flavors work perfectly together.
Ingredient Notes
- Frozen banana - You can freeze the banana slices or chunks. The frozen banana is key to creating a creamy smoothie.
- Ice
- Chocolate protein powder - if you only have vanilla protein powder on hand, feel free to add an extra teaspoon or two of cocoa powder. We like the following protein powders: Clean Simple Eats*, Truvani* (for a plant-based option).
- Unsweetened almond milk - we prefer to use a plant-based milk like almond milk. You can also use a different type of milk: almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, or regular dairy milk will all work great. For best results, use cold milk.
- Cottage cheese - it might sound funny at first, but the cottage cheese is key to making a creamy texture. It also adds extra protein. You can swap it for vanilla greek yogurt or omit it all together if you prefer and you'll still have a tasty smoothie.
- Cocoa powder - if you like rich chocolate flavors, a little extra cocoa powder takes it to the next level.
- Natural peanut butter - we prefer to use creamy peanut butter. You can also use double the amount with a powdered peanut butter if you prefer.
