Ingredient Notes
- Greek yogurt - we like to use plain yogurt for this recipe and sweeten it with maple syrup. However, you can choose to use flavored yogurt instead, such as vanilla Greek yogurt or strawberry Greek yogurt.
- Maple syrup - feel free to swap with honey if preferred.
- Chocolate chips - we love using dark chocolate chips for this recipe to contrast the sweetness of the yogurt cluster, but you can use milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips as well.
- Coconut oil - coconut oil is very helpful in thinning out the chocolate and making it easier to cover the frozen cluster. Don't skip this ingredient!
See the recipe card below for a complete list of ingredients and measurements.
Recipe Tips & Variations
- You can swap strawberries for a different fruit. Other fresh berries such as raspberries or blueberries would be a great option. You could also use another type of fresh fruit such as diced peaches or mangoes.
- If you are a fan of nut butter, you can add a small dollop of peanut butter, cashew butter, or other nut butter of choice to each yogurt cluster when freezing or mix it directly into the yogurt.
- Try other mix-ins such as granola or Rice Krispies!
- Not a fan of regular chocolate? Give white chocolate a try!
- You can drizzle chocolate over the top of each cluster if you do not want to completely dip them, but note this will make them a little bit messier to eat.
- Feel free to make small clusters instead of large clusters for bite-sized frozen yogurt clusters. These will also soften more quickly when you are ready to eat them.
Chocolate Dipping Tips
Dipping frozen yogurt clusters in warm chocolate can be a little tricky, so here are our best tips!
- Completely melt the chocolate chips in the microwave, but make sure you don't burn the chocolate! The coconut oil will also help to thin out the chocolate, so don't forget to add it in. The thinned chocolate will make it easier to cover each cluster.
- You can also dip the clusters in batches to prevent the yogurt from melting when dipping. Start with 3-4 at a time and leave the others in the freezer. Then switch them out and continue to dip until all are covered in chocolate.
- If you find it becomes difficult to dip the clusters as the melted chocolate starts to run out, you can always melt more chocolate chips!

How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Yogurt Bites
For the full recipe instructions, scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the page.
Step 1: Finely dice the strawberries and add them to a small mixing bowl. Measure out the Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla and add it to the bowl with the strawberries.
Step 2: Mix gently until well combined.
Step 3: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Make sure the baking sheet can fit in your freezer. Using a spoon, scoop a dollop of the yogurt mixture onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Make 12 clusters of yogurt that are all approximately the same size (about 2 tablespoons in size).
Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 60 minutes, or until the yogurt is firm.
Step 4: Once the yogurt clusters are frozen, begin preparing the chocolate. Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Place in the microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring in between each interval, until melted.
Step 5: You will need to move quickly for this next part as the yogurt can melt quickly and the chocolate can harden. Pull the yogurt clusters out of the freezer and begin covering each in the chocolate. One at a time, place the cluster in the chocolate using a large spoon or two forks. Turn until it is covered in chocolate and place back onto the baking sheet. Add a sprinkle of sea salt if desired. Repeat for all the clusters and return the sheet pan to the freezer for the chocolate to completely harden.
If the yogurt softens before you’ve dipped all of them, set them back in the freezer until firm before continuing with the dipping process.
Step 6: Once hardened, move the clusters to an airtight container and store in the freezer. When ready to eat a cluster, remove it from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature prior to eating, until the yogurt begins to soften. Enjoy!
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Yogurt Cluster FAQs
We recommend storing these chocolate dipped treats in an airtight container in the freezer. When you are ready to eat them, let them sit at room temperature until the yogurt begins to soften.
We recommend using fresh strawberries for best results. However, if you choose to use frozen strawberries we recommend thawing them slightly so that they are easy to chop but not too wet.
This recipe is gluten free and vegetarian. For a dairy-free and vegan option, use a plant-based yogurt (such as coconut yogurt) and dairy free chocolate chips.
